About the Role: Leap29 is partnering with a top-tier European Independent Power Producer (IPP) focused on developing global renewable energy projects. We are seeking a Senior Project Developer with experience in project development of renewable technologies. The ideal candidate will be based in Cape Town or Johannesburg.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of new and existing projects in solar, wind, storage, and hybrid technologies.
• Identify and secure land rights, evaluate grid connection feasibility, and manage permitting and authorizations until Financial Close.
• Oversee day-to-day project activities, including subcontractor, consultant, and supplier management.
• Ensure the technical and commercial feasibility of projects, proposing measures to mitigate risk, time, and cost.
• Prepare and manage project budgets and schedules.
• Collaborate with the Development Manager to align projects with company objectives and targets.
• Ensure on-time, within-budget, and compliant project development.
• Perform risk management to minimize project and development risks.
• Manage and report changes in project scope, schedule, and costs to the Development Manager and Steering Committee.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation and prepare presentations and reports for various stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, business, or a related field.
• Post-graduate specialization in project management is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Project Developer in South Africa.
• Experience in the renewable energy sector is preferred.
• Proven experience in interacting with external stakeholders in a professional setting.
• Advanced proficiency in Project Management tools.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
