Role Overview

Meta is hiring an experienced Energy Manager to oversee energy strategies for our data center portfolio. This critical role involves ensuring reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable energy supply while managing electricity regulations, utility relationships, and policy across regulated and unregulated markets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Site Selection: Collaborate with the Site Selection Team to identify new data center locations and negotiate energy agreements.
  • Utility Relationship Management: Build and maintain partnerships with utility providers, regulators, and stakeholders in energy markets such as WECC, MISO, and PJM.
  • Energy Supply Strategy: Develop and execute a clean, cost-competitive energy supply strategy aligned with Meta’s goals.
  • Contractual Oversight: Draft and refine energy agreements for utilities and market operators, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Regulatory Engagement: Monitor regulatory developments and influence energy supply solutions and rate structures.
  • Internal Collaboration: Partner with teams across sustainability, design, finance, and legal departments to align energy objectives.
  • Market Trends Analysis: Stay updated on technical, regulatory, and market developments and communicate risks and opportunities to leadership.
  • Project Management: Lead various energy projects, ensuring alignment with Meta’s strategic goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental science, or a related energy discipline.
  • Experience: 8+ years managing commercial energy issues, including new customer loads and site selection.
  • Skills:
    • Expertise in utility rate-making and interconnection processes.
    • Proven ability to manage complex projects and communicate technical details effectively.
    • Proficiency in analytics platforms like Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs.
  • Leadership: Experience presenting to leadership teams and managing external stakeholders such as utilities, regulators, and consultants.
