Role Overview
AWS is seeking an experienced Energy Projects Manager to join our AIET West team and lead the strategy and execution of utility power projects in the Southwest (PHX) region of the U.S. This role will oversee large-scale energy projects (100+ MW), partner with electric utilities, and manage power infrastructure to support AWS data center growth while advancing our path to net-zero carbon supply.
As the Energy Projects Manager, you will:
- Define and implement generation, transmission, distribution, and backup power strategies.
- Develop innovative energy solutions to reduce costs and enhance efficiency.
- Oversee the execution of multiple medium and high-voltage power projects across geographies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of medium- and high-voltage energy infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with utilities, EPCs, and engineers to deliver reliable energy solutions.
- Lead capital budget management for electrical infrastructure and energy initiatives.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and innovative energy strategies.
- Represent AWS in discussions with utilities, regulators, and external stakeholders.
- Report on project progress, risks, and successes to executive leadership.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power and energy.
- 5+ years of experience in the utility/energy industry.
- 2+ years of experience delivering medium- and high-voltage infrastructure projects.
- Experience negotiating energy contracts and managing external partnerships.
- Proven ability to analyze energy projects and manage budgets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Financial or commercial experience in energy management.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management training.
- Expertise in planning, engineering, and constructing substations (34.5 kV or higher).
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills for managing large-scale projects.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
